Ned Flanders

Ned Flanders is a supporting character in The Simpsons, a neighborly presence whose name usually suggests duty performed with a smile that has been asked to work overtime. He behaves by showing up early, bringing help without much ceremony, and trying to keep ordinary disputes from becoming moral sinkholes or permanent grudges.
You answer trouble by arriving with something useful in your hands. A broken fence, anxious volunteer table, or ugly public proposal sends you toward repair, courtesy, and the belief that people behave better when someone gives them a decent model to copy. You are comfortable doing unglamorous work if it lowers the temperature for everyone nearby. That points to Ned Flanders because your first move is service, not spectacle. You can make a tense place feel less abandoned, and your steadiness gives other people room to recover themselves. The warning is that niceness can become a hiding place. If you never admit irritation, boundaries arrive late, resentment leaks sideways, and help begins to look like a debt nobody agreed to owe.
