Alphonse Elric

Alphonse Elric is Edward’s younger brother and one of the central figures of the journey. He is associated with the story’s concern for damaged bodies, moral cost, and the human beings caught inside larger schemes. He tends to protect before he accuses, asks what a victory does to innocent people, and carries gentleness without treating it as weakness.

You notice who is being crushed by the plan before you admire the plan itself. In a road town, a lab corridor, or a stalled train, you count the people who did not volunteer for danger and start moving them out of it. You can still fight, bargain, and endure, but you prefer not to become someone who survives by ignoring pain. Alphonse fits because your conscience is active rather than ornamental. The danger is that compassion can turn into self-erasure. You may carry too much, forgive too early, or let decisive moments pass because every side has a wound attached to it. People with colder purposes can use that hesitation, and not every locked door opens because you ask kindly.
