Ponta

Ponta is a main companion in a cast where animals and travel are part of the texture, not decoration. Ponta’s place is close to the road, the campfire, and the small signs other people miss. The behaviour is instinctive and practical: notice a scent, calm a panic, pull attention sideways, and keep the party moving when larger figures become too visible.

You keep the journey from becoming only steel and speeches. You check the pack animals, hear the odd silence before the ambush, share food before tempers split, and turn a frightening entrance into something ordinary enough to survive. When others stare at armor, blades, or rank, you watch the ground, the hands, and the creature that has already smelled trouble. Ponta fits because this result values instinct, movement, and care at campfire height rather than throne-room volume. The downside is that you may dodge direct conflict by making everything gentler, smaller, or funny enough to pass. People can mistake your usefulness for harmlessness, and you may encourage that mistake because it keeps the peace. Eventually, though, someone must say the hard thing without turning it into a diversion.
